OSSRH Namespaces Are Now Visible In The Central Publisher Portal⚓︎

We, the Central Team, would like to make the community aware that publishers are now able to view their namespaces that are registered to publish via OSSRH in the Central Publisher Portal (https://central.sonatype.com/publishing/namespaces).

We realize that some publishers have been confused by the recent changes to our account management services. We hope that displaying OSSRH namespaces in publishers' Portal namespaces tabs adds clarity and reduces confusion. For clarity, we have not migrated anyone's namespaces from the legacy service to the new service, unless they have specifically requested we do so.

What can I do with this information⚓︎

Our intention is for the Central Publisher Portal to become the primary resource for publishers. Along with the OSSRH namespace names, you will see links to the specific OSSRH server where the namespace is provisioned. This should help with questions such as "Why can't I log in to https://s01.oss.sonatype.org?" when the namespace is provisioned on https://oss.sonatype.org.

List Authorized Publishers⚓︎

Along with the name and URL, you can access the list of publishers on the namespace. This list will give you the contact information for your fellow publishers. As projects look to improve their security by removing publishing permissions from users who have left the project, having this capability in the application enables you to quickly access the information without needing to submit a support request and wait for us to respond. At the moment, removing users still requires a support request, but we intend to make this process self-service in the future.

Self-Service Migration⚓︎

Lastly, for certain namespaces, we are enabling self-service migration to the Central Publisher Portal. Clicking on the "Migrate Namespace" button will do a check to determine if your namespace meets the criteria for self-service migration. As of the time of writing this, any namespace with no parent or child namespaces and with three or fewer publishers is eligible.

Self-service migration enables you to migrate to the new system on your own schedule, without the need to open a support request. We encourage publishers to take advantage of this capability. The majority of our team's effort is focused on making the Portal a reliable, smooth, and modern way to publish. Migrating when your use-cases are covered enables us to provide you better support and new features as they roll out.

What to do if I don't see a namespace I expect⚓︎

If you are an existing OSSRH publisher and you log in to the Central Publisher Portal, you may not see a namespace that you expect. The most common reason for this is not logging in via the account that has publisher access. As a reminder, OSSRH only supports username and password accounts, so logging in with Google or GitHub Social Login will not display your OSSRH namespaces. Logging in with a new account that you created just for the Portal will not automatically have your OSSRH namespaces.

If you have logged in with the correct account and still do not see the namespace(s) listed, please reach out to Central Support for assistance. Although we did our best to automatically import the namespaces from OSSRH, there have been set up manually over the years and they might not have been identified during the import. While issues.sonatype.org is no longer available, we have the historical record of publishing permissions available to our support staff to ensure that the correct permissions are assigned to your account. Additionally, a namespace not being visible in the Portal will have no direct effect on your ability to continue publishing via OSSRH as you have previously.
